Peanut Butter and Chocolate – when it comes to sweets I’ve always felt that these two ingredients were just soulmates. Sweet and salty in one bite, does it get any better than that? Oh wait, I think it does – Nutella and Banana are just two flavors that belong together. I first tried this combination on my honeymoon in Paris when I had a crepe from a street vendor, and I’ve been addicted to the pairing ever since.
When I saw this pin, I just knew that I had to give it a shot plus push it one further with the Nutella/Banana combination.
So I got my ingredients together: refrigerator crescent rolls, peanut butter, choc chips, Nutella (mmmmm… Nutella), and banana.
I then rolled out the crescent rolls and separated them into triangles to be rolled up.
On the first 4 I spread peanut butter and sprinkled chocolate chips:
On the remaining 4 triangles I spread Nutella and sprinkled chopped up pieces of banana:
Then you just roll them up (you almost have to fold the Nutella/banana ones because the banana likes to slide when you try to roll it) and put them on baking sheet.
I suggest using a silicone baking mat or parchment paper on the baking sheet because if you put too much PB or Nutella it may leak and be a mess (plus I use parchment for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING, it’s just so easy to toss it and be done.)
You then want to bake them in a 350° oven for 11-13 minutes or until they start to brown.
These came out so good and were super quick! The PB/Choc ones could have been a little better, the chocolate didn’t melt all the way but they were still good. The Nutella/Banana ones on the other hand were DELICIOUS, they disappeared off the plate and even DH, who sighs and rolls his eyes every time he hears I’m experimenting, gave them his approval.
I will definitely be making these again (probably just stick to the Nutella/Banana) and will be looking for other things to roll up in crescents… maybe I’ll go the appetizer/savory route next time.
